Intro
The DIJKEMA family is one of my maternal step-grandfathers maternal lines. DIJKEMA is a Dutch family or clan name referring to living near or working on a dike.

(I use the letter "C" to differentiate between my biological family tree and my step-family tree. Similarly, I use the letter "B" to mark my paternal grandmothers adoptive family tree.)

Ahnentafel #106C - Melle Pieters DIJKEMA (b. 1799) - born in the village of Spijk, municipality of Delfzijl, Province of Groningen, the Netherlands, he married Aaltje Klaassens JUKKEMA (b. 1794) in 1820 in the village of Bierum, Delfzijl, Groningen. They had four known children.

Ahnentafel #53C - Geertje Melles DIJKEMA (1821 - 1872) - lived her entire live in Bierum. Married Jan Ewes BOS (1823 - 1881) in 1849 and had three known sons.

Ahnentafel #26C - Melle "Millard" BOS (b. c. 1853 - d. c. 1888); m. 1877 in Bierum to Trientje ZIGTERMAN; immigrated 1879 to Michigan; have been unable to find death record for Melle; his widow married 1889 in Lamont, Ottawa Co., Michigan to Pieter BARSEMA

UFC Undisputed 2010 Download and Emulator is another Yukes production of UFC-based mixed martial arts (MMA). The game is a continuation of the well-received UFC Undisputed 2009, released mid-2009. In the UFC Undisputed 2010, we take part in the fights on the closed ring (so called octagon). In front of each other, there are two players to beat the opponent using any technique. Dueling, due to the large selection of fighting styles, is dynamic and extensive - clashes are taking place on different levels - both stand, clinch, and ground.

All about Tonka

Tonka and his half-brother Winston were acquired off of Kijiji 6 weeks ago by a family who wanted farm dogs. Unfortunately,  through no fault of their own, Tonka and Winston were not a good fit for their new family. The decision was made to turn them over to us to ensure that they each found exactly the right home.

Tonka is a very calm, friendly, affectionate boy who loves spending time with people.  He is well mannered in the house, and has excellent leash manners, walking in a perfect heel.  He doesnt know too many commands, but is eager to please and learning more each day.  Hed be a great candidate for obedience work.  What a good boy!

Get pettin

His surrendering family told us that Tonka would chase small outdoor animals like chickens, ducks and outdoor cats.  He has been introduced to indoor cats and has shown no interest in chasing.  A home with an indoor only cat who is dog savvy would likely be ok for him.  He is not a match for a home where there are outdoor cats cruising about.

Were going to need a bigger pool

Tonka is non-reactive to dogs walking by him on his walks, he is just focused on his handler.  When introduced to new dogs Tonka is unsure of them in his personal space.  He will stiffen and posture.   This passes easily when in the company of respectful dogs.  He will benefit from the opportunity to work with a confident handler who can slowly help him learn doggie social skills.  He could join a family with another very calm, respectful dog and an experienced handler, although he would be very happy being the only dog.

Tonka is neutered and his vaccines are UTD.  He appears to be in good health.


Tonka is being fostered in the GTA.  His approved adopters will be required to pick him up in person.  An adoption donation will apply.

Perking Right Along

Nothing says camping to us like perked coffee made in a genuine percolator.  Although some would say getting gourmet coffee out of a percolator is impossible, we beg to differ.

If you want The Best perked coffee, you have to be prepared to pay your dues and do your diligence.

Lets go through the drill.  Now, bear in mind this is not an exhaustive tutorial on making great perked coffee--its just the beginning.

First things first--you MUST use a stainless steel percolator.  Do not even THINK of using an aluminum one.  If you insist on using an aluminum percolator then read no farther--this perked coffee primer is NOT for you!

Second, you MUST keep your stainless steel percolator clean and SPOTLESS.  Grime and built-up coffee stains might be a picturesque piece of camping ambiance but they simply murder good coffee.  Keep it cleaned constantly.  Period.

Third, you MUST buy the proper coffee filter.  A normal percolator will make a dark brown liquid thats only one step above the dreaded  so-called "cowboy coffee."  Trust me, we HATE cowboy coffee.  We dont care how many stories people tell about the mystic of cowboy coffee and how you put in egg shells and whatever other disgusting things you do to destroy perfectly good coffee grounds.  Cowboy coffee sux.  Thats the bottom line.

So, you buy the correct filter.  Its a square piece of filter paper with five pre-punched holes.  You carefully line the basket with this filter, put in the grounds and then CAREFULLY fold over the corners of the filter until your precious grounds are safe and properly encased.  If youve done this step correctly, there will be NO grounds either in the bottom of the basket or in the coffee itself.  Cleanup is a no-brainer.

Next, you have a fine and delicate chore ahead of you on the road to perfect perked coffee.  It involves genuine scientific research.

A scientific procedure is one that can be replicated again and again based on, well... science.

The science of perfect perked coffee is finding the right grounds, in the right amount, matched with the right amount of water and perked for the right time over the right flame.  Each of these things is a critical variable.
